After a long and challenging Campaign the vote was read and the Workers of Caleb Manor, a Revera Retirement Residence in Saskatoon,SK came together and voted for SEIU-West to represent them as their Union.
“Sweet Victory…”
“It was a sweet victory for the workers at Caleb Manor…” said SEIU-West Organizing Director Sean Senechal “They worked so very hard to form a Union at their Revera Facility, worked so hard to have some say and respect in their workplace. I hope this victory reminds everyone at Revera just how important the Union is to the workers of Caleb Manor.”
Just like their fellow workers at the Revera owned Bentleys in Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current and most recently the Marian Chateau, Caleb Manor came together and chose SEIU-West as their Union.
By voting YES for a Union, the Workers of Caleb Manor;

In an overwhelming display of support for one another, the Workers of the Marian Chateau, a Revera Retirement Residence in Regina,SK came together and voted for SEIU-West to represent them as their Union.
“Last minute curve-ball…”
“It was 30 minutes before the vote when management threw that last minute curve-ball and announced their June schedule… with lay-off, hour cuts and job descriptions changes…” said SEIU-West Organizing Director Sean Senechal “I can’t help but feel that Revera Management’s action helped confirm why the workers of Marian Chateau wanted SEIU to represent them in the first place… winning this vote isn’t just a victory, it is a statement of how much these Workers have come together during this campaign. This victory shows everyone at Revera just how important the Union is to Marian Chateau.”
During the campaign the workers of Marian Chateau discovered that they were not alone, they discovered the strength they had when they began to share their stories. They discovered that a problem for one was a problem for all… Together the Workers of Marian Chateau;

Residents Reject Changes, Support Workers
Recently, in response to concerns about possible changes at Revera’s All Inclusive Rental Retirement Facilities in Saskatchewan, Rent Paying Residents and their families have asked how they can show their displeasure while still supporting the workers as they form a union.
A series of postcards have been produced and distributed to the residents, seen above, suitable for display or to send to Revera’s Corporate Head office in Toronto.
If you have a complaint, an idea for a new postcard, or if you just want to Support the Revera Workers in Saskatchewan as they form a Union - We want to hear from you!
Sources tell EyeOnRevera that the Rent Paying Residents are concerned over the lack of replenishment of the on-site 24 hour snack bars at Revera Managed facilities in Saskatchewan. Could this be another possible change to the All-Inclusive Reveralicious Lifestyle?
What Is Reveralicious?
As Toronto based Revera Inc. takes over management of it’s seven Saskatchewan locations from the Caleb Group, their national website is promoting it’s new campaign “Reveralicious”. “A celebration of delicious food prepared fresh by our chefs.”
Meanwhile sources tell EyeOnCaleb that residents are allegedly becoming unhappy with changes in food quality, menu choices and the change to packaged foods from fresh.
We hear that some residents are now taking pictures of their meals, we encourage anyone who wants to share their photos and comments on changes to food quality at Revera’s All-Inclusive Rental Retirement Residences to share them with us.
If you are a Rent Paying Resident of Caleb Manor, The Franklin, Marian Chateau, or The Bentley you can send your photos and stories to us by clicking here.
Servers Are The First To Go…
Our sources are telling EyeOnRevera.com that the first round of staff reductions ordered by Revera’s Toronto-based management team are the Servers.
We are also hearing that to make up for the staff shortages the Rent Paying Residents are now going to take their meals at assigned times and at multiple sittings… We wonder how the Rent Paying Residents of Revera now feel about the alleged sudden reduction in service… Or how reductions measure up to Revera’s Pledge.
If you hear of changes in your Caleb/Revera Residence please Let Us Know!
Revera Inc. Takes Over Management From Caleb In Saskatchewan
In a deal that will the effect the residents and staff of seven all-inclusive retirement rental communities, Toronto based Revera Inc. quietly announced that it is taking over the day-to-day management of its facilities from Saskatoon’s Caleb Group.
The news came in late April 2011 and by the first week of May reports of staff reductions were already beginning to circulate. “The residents are taking it really hard” said a Revera employee who didn’t want to give her name “You get to know these people for a couple of years and they’re like family… Then all of a sudden they tell you you’re gone.”
Three of the former Caleb managed facilities in Saskatchewan are unionized with the Service Employees International Union, SEIU-West, these are The Bentley’s in Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current.
“I feel more secure” said one Bentley worker “It should be a smoother transition for us, we have a new Collective Agreement through SEIU-West”
